it has been a crazy couple years! i graduated college, prayed for a regular job, with regular hours, ha!, started my own business, got engaged, and got married! i really never thought that i would own my business, but feel so blessed that i have had this opportunity. i have also had the great opportunity learn from people who have been in this business for much longer than myself such as, denis reggie, kevin kubota, dane sanders, corey mcnabb, and amber holritz. i have emerged myself into forums, workshops, and classes and have made a commitment to this business for the long haul. for many reasons and from much advice, starting july 1st blackbird photography will be changing to ashley hoskins photography. when i first started this business in november of 2007 i was hoping ;) that i would be getting engaged and married soon so, i didn't really feel like it was the best decision to name the business after my name, when i was hoping that my name was going to be changing in the next year, so blackbird was born. well, as you know, i did get married and do have a new name. after a year of explaining time after time that i was the girl behind the bird, i thought, ya know, now might be a good time for me to make the change so that when people see my logo, see my business, see my photos, they know that it's me. i want to be doing this job for a very long time and felt like this was kind of my commitment to the business.....taking ownership of my work. i LOVE my logo....always have since the moment i saw it, so that will stay the same....most everything will stay the same. one more really fun thing is that here within the next couple weeks, i will have a new blogsite!!!! i have been working on this for a really long time and could not be more excited about it. the web address for that will be www.ashleyhoskinsphotography.com. it's not live yet, so if you type it in, nothing will come up, but i will let you know when it's ready, trust me!! my hope for this blog is that it will be a place that you will visit often. i will be updating weekly, sometimes even daily with photo sessions, life experiences, and some fun wedding tips. between planning my own wedding last october, and being emersed into this business, i feel like i have learned a lot about the wedding planning process and want to start sharing that more with you.

so in a little less than 2 hours we will begin our journey to bonnaroo. bonnaroo is a very special place to me. its where i became best friends with a guy named justin about 6 years ago at my very first time at bonnaroo. i knew then that if i ever went back to that place, i wanted him to be with me. and he has been ever since. i have been several times, but never in a million years could i have dreamed i would be going back to be on the other side. the last time i went to bonnaroo the band hadn't even been born yet...but here we are now, my husband and buddies not only playing once, but TWICE at bonnaroo. i can't even tell you how excited we are about this weekend. i have been having dreams about it for months now and can't believe it's really here. if you, or someone you know is at bonnaroo, tell them to come check out the DIRTY GUV'NAHS! Saturday at 5:20 AND Sunday at 6:10. their shows are so fun and you are guaranteed to have a great time. well, i better start getting all my billions of things that i bring to bonnaroo together. just wanted everyone to know also, my blackberry broke yesterday (sigh)....so i won't be able to receive any emails while i am gone, or facebook, or twitter......but promise to respond as soon as i get back....hopefully having met bruce springsteen or ben harper! =)

so, i am FINALLY blogging some of my favorite photos from blake and mimi's wedding. i felt bad that it has taken me so long to get around to it that i wanted to go ahead and get some up but i'm still working on their slideshow. i have known blake rust since, well, for a really long time. i have grown up with him and his fabulous family since i was a little kid and love each and every one of them. i met mimi sometime after her and blake started dating and fell in love with her too so you can imagine how excited i was to shoot their wedding. blake and mimi are 2 words, SOOOOO SWEET! i took about a bagillion pictures because every time i turned around they were doing something so cute. they were soooo excited to be getting married and their pictures show it. they got married at farragut presbyterian church and had their reception at hunter valley farms. it was gorgeous and so much fun and i just could not be happier for the two of them. here are some of my favorites....remember there is a slideshow in the works! =)
